Coconut. Plumeria. Can't decide? You can both buy and make coconut plumeria soaps. They are popular, particularly in Hawaii, and often blend nourishing coconut oil with the sweet, tropical scent of plumeria flowers.
Where to Buy Coconut Plumeria Soaps
Several brands, often out of Hawaii, offer these soaps, usually formulated as vegan or all-natural products:
Maui Soap Company: Offers a Plumeria Hawaiian Bar Soap formulated with kukui and coconut oil, typically priced around $9.50–$12.
Island Soap & Candle Works: Produces a 2 oz. or 3.8 oz. Plumeria Blossom Soap based on coconut and palm oil, often found for around $5.99–$13.
Etsy Sellers: Numerous handmade shops, such as DeShawn Marie and others, sell handmade, cold-process Coconut Plumeria soaps featuring vegan ingredients and pink Himalayan salt.
Bali Soap: Offers a natural, cold-process Plumeria bar with a similar tropical profile.
How to Make Coconut Plumeria Soap
You can create your own coconut plumeria soap using cold-process methods.
Common Ingredients:
Oils: Coconut oil is essential, often blended with olive oil, shea butter, and macadamia nut oil for a moisturizing bar.
Fragrance: Plumeria fragrance oil or frangipani fragrance oil.
Colorants: Mica or natural mineral oxides (like titanium dioxide for white and yellow/pink oxides for swirls).
Exfoliants/Additives: Pink Himalayan salt or ground oats are sometimes added for texture.
General Process:
Prepare the Lye Solution: Mix lye (sodium hydroxide) with water.
Mix Oils: Melt coconut oil and other oils, then blend with the lye mixture until "trace" is reached.
Scent and Color: Add the plumeria fragrance and chosen colorants to the soap batter.
Mold and Cure: Pour into a mold, add toppings (like salt or flowers), let it set for 24-48 hours, cut, and allow to cure for 4-6 weeks.
You can also do a melt and pour base, easy in the microwave. Add coconut and plumeria oils for scent. Add powdered spices for a natural color.
