Lei-Making on the Big Island





You can take hands-on lei-making classes and cultural workshops
at several spots across the Big Island of Hawaii. 




Common Styles of Lei Making are:

Kui: Threading blossoms (like plumeria or orchids) onto a needle and string.

Haku: Braiding or sewing materials onto a base, often styled as a headpiece (lei poʻo).

Wili: Winding and twisting fresh foliage and flowers tightly onto a main cord.
